1. Program Description
This program is committed to preparing students for global governance by equipping them with the abilities of clear English expression and persuasive English writing and cross-cultural (business) communicative competence, and by empowering them to be fair-minded, innovative, and visionary. The students will receive training in English and Chinese language skills, cross-cultural business communication, English literature and culture, Chinese business and culture, international business, and some natural sciences. A degree in business English will get students ready for challenging business positions in the era of globalization.
2. Professional Requirements
Students to graduate from this program should:
1) acquire systematic knowledge of the language of English and have an advanced English proficiency level;
2) be familiarized with Chinese culture, politics, economy and history, and be able to carry out cross-cultural business communication both in English and in Chinese;
3) acquire basic theories/knowledge in the fields of management, international business, and international law, and be familiar with regulations and practices of international business;
4) be skillful with modern information technology, and have the ability to tackle practical problems with the help of big data;
5) have the ability of self-learning, the ability to conduct academic research, innovation capacity, entrepreneurship, and team spirit.
3. Credit Requirements

Note:
1) Students must meet the minimum requirements of practice credit as detailed above.
2) Social practice: 50 credit hours for 1 credit. Professional practice: 30 credit hours for 1 credit. Labor education: 16 credit hours for 1 credit. Graduation thesis: 20 credit hours for 1 credit.
3) Students must finish a graduation thesis and pass the thesis oral defense, under the guidance of a supervisor.
3.3 Thesis
Students need to finish an English thesis in no less than 5,000 words, investigating any critical or research question in the field of business. The evaluation of the thesis is made by taking into account the following factors: 1) the quality of English, 2) familiarity with, and understanding of, the relevant intellectual context, 3) the research design, and 4) the significance of the research findings and their contribution(s).
