In order to encourage and support the excellent international students in academics and research, we hereby announce the application process for the 2024 Beijing Government Scholarship for International Students as follows:
1. Eligibility
The scholarship is open to self-funded undergraduates, master’s, and doctoral students who have been studying at UIBE more than one year. Students with any of the following situations during the evaluation period are not eligible to apply:
1) Violation of Chinese laws or university rules, with any record of disciplinary actions.
2) Absent more than 8 class hours without reason during any semester of the academic year 2023-2024.
3) Unable to pay tuition fees and complete registration on time for the fall semester of 2024.
4) Those who have been awarded Chinese Government Scholarship or got the scholarship provided by the other institutions are not allowed to apply for this scholarship.
2. Application Criteria
1) High academic performance with a ranking among top students in the same grade and discipline.
2) Good conduct, compliance with laws, university policies, and attendance at classes and meetings.
3) Priority will be given to those who serve as student cadres or student assistants at School of International Education and make contributions to student management and various activities.
4) Those who actively participate in various activities both on and off campus and win awards, and strive for honors for the school, will be given priority.
3. Scholarship Amount
Doctoral Students:
Full Scholarship: RMB 40,000 per year;
Half Scholarship: RMB 20,000 per year.
Master’s Students:
Full Scholarship: RMB 30,000 per year;
Half Scholarship: RMB 15,000 per year.
Undergraduates:
Full Scholarship: RMB 20,000 per year;
Half Scholarship: RMB 10,000 per year.
4.Application Timeline and Steps
Application Period: From now until November 8th in 2024.
Steps:
1) Submit the Hard Copy application materials to the academic department before November 8th in 2024.
2) The school will conduct an initial evaluation and submit the recommended list to the School of International Education by November 13th in 2024.
3) The International Student Scholarship Review Committee will finalize the list and announce it internally for 5 days.
4) During the announcement period, any objections can be raised to the School of International Education.
5. Application Materials
Applications must be in Chinese or English, and all materials are non-returnable.
1) Completed Application Form of Beijing Government Scholarship Award (Hard Copy).
2) Academic transcripts for the academic year 2023-2024.
3) Personal statement.
4) Copies of certificates of awards, if applicable.
5) Accurate bank account details for a bank within China, including account number, account holder’s name, and bank branch details (e.g., "XX Bank Huixin East Street Branch").
6) If the applicant needs to request other students to collect the scholarship, the applicant must submit a Proxy Letter for Beijing Government Scholarship Award and copies of both passports.
6. Additional Notes
All application information must be true and accurate. Any falsification will result in disqualification. If a scholarship recipient violates Chinese laws or university policies, their scholarship will be revoked immediately.
