Business and Cultural Visit to Bengbu City

From June 6 to 7, at the invitation of the government of Bengbu City, Anhui Province, 39 trainees from theChina-aid foreign project travelled to the city and participated in the 'One Belt, One Road' Countries Economic and Trade Cooperation and Exchange Conference". Yin Wenquan, party secretary of the Institute of Economic System and Management of the National Development and Reform Commission, Wang Cheng, deputy party secretary and mayor of Bengbu City, and other government officials attended the conference. Prof. Sang Baichuan, dean of the School of International Economic Research and School of China Free Trade Zone Strategy gave a speech on the trade war between China and the United States.


Mayor Wang Cheng delivered a speech and expressed his sincere welcome to the students on behalf of the Bengbu government and the people of the city. He pointed out that Bengbu is making every effort to build a "Belt and Road" economic and trade cooperation platform and to promote the economic and trade cooperation between the "Belt and Road" countries and the city. He also introduced "Huiqiao” APP, an international trade service platform which can bridge the economic and trade cooperation for overseas students and local enterprises. Five representatives of students from UIBE made speeches and shared the fruitful results and valuable experiences of their home countries in participating in the "One Belt One Road" initiative. The Bengbu government awarded the students as the honorary envoy of friendship for "Belt and Road" economic and trade cooperation.




During the conference, the participants also had on-site negotiations with representatives of 31 local enterprises. During the negotiation, many  participants said they would report to the relevant departments in their home countries and strive to facilitate cooperation in substations, engineering and mining, etc. They also hoped that Chinese enterprises could set up branches in their home countries to invest or introduce Chinese advanced technologies and processes.




In the afternoon of the 6th, the students visited the State Key Laboratory of New Float Glass Technology and Bengbu Fengyuan Group where the participants got an in-depth understanding of the research development, engineering services and the float glass production process. Ahmadu Abdou, Ministry of Finance, Senegal, said, "It was a very good opportunity to visit such a high-tech enterprise, and I learned a lot about the glass industry as well as solar energy related knowledge." The participants also visited Feng Yuan Biochemical Company, Lactic Polylactic Acid Project, and Tiger Biotechnology Co. to learn about the main products and production processes of Feng Yuan's bio-manufacturing product base. Andrina Tarazon of the Center for Advanced Studies in Development and Emerging Economies of the State of Miranda, Venezuela, said, "I think today's visit is not only a cultural exchange of South-South world, but also an exchange between us economically and technologically, which can stimulate the development of related industries in other countries. "

On the morning of the 7th, the participants went on a cultural tour to the Bengbu Museum, the ruins of Yuxie Village and the first village of Chinese flower-drums, to gain a deeper understanding of the long history of Bengbu. Participants were amazed by the hospitality of local people and colorful local traditional culture.




Business and cultural study tour is an important part of the China-aid foreign project which aims to help international students to witness the achievements of China's economic, social and cultural development and enhance their in-depth understanding of China's economy and culture. The participation of such events will help the students deepen their knowledge and understanding of China's "One Belt, One Road" initiative. The participants expressed their hope to visit more regions in China in the future as well as to know more about China's brilliant history and profound traditional culture, so that they could contribute to the economic cooperation and cultural exchange between their home countries and China when they return home.
