Attendance will be checked in activities stipulated by the university such as class, experiment, internship and social practice. Attendance management is to check and record students' late arrival, early leaving, leave for personal matters, sick leave and absenteeism.

 

I. When attending classes or participating in related activities is impossible for any reason, students shall ask for a leave.

 

II. In general, students are not allowed to take a leave for personal matters during a semester. In special cases, students shall complete leave formalities in line with the following policies.

1. Students who take a leave for 1 day shall submit a leave application to their administrators.

2. Students who take a leave of absence for 2 days or more shall submit a leave application and supporting documents to school directors. The application need be first approved by their own school and then by School of International Education.

 

III. Students applying for a sick leave shall complete the leave formalities in line with the following policies.  

1. Students applying for sick leave for 1 day shall submit a leave application to their administrators.

2. Students applying for sick leave for 2-5 days shall submit the certificate of diagnosis and an application to their administrators.

3. Students applying for sick leave for 5 days or more shall submit the certificate of diagnosis to their administrators. The application need be first approved by their own school and then by the School of International Education.

 

IV. Students who can’t complete the leave formalities beforehand for some reason shall take the initiative to complete them afterwards in time. No completion or insufficient reasons for leave will be considered as absenteeism.   

 

V. In the following cases, students’ attendance will be considered as absenteeism.

1. Students do not ask for a leave.

2. Students have asked for a leave but it is not permitted.

3. Students spend more days on leave than it is excused.

 

VI. When a student’s absence (excused or not) goes up to 1/3 of the total class hours of a course, he or she will fail the subject automatically.   

 

VII. When students’ absenteeism in one semester reaches the following class hours, the school will impose disciplinary punishments in line with the following policies:

1. 16 hours of absenteeism will incur a warning.

2. 24 hours of absenteeism will incur a serious warning.

3. 32 hours of absenteeism will incur a record of demerit.

4. 40 hours of absenteeism will incur academic probation.

5. 48 hours of absenteeism will incur dismissal of academic status.

 

VIII. Additional punishment will be imposed.

1. The punished student will be disqualified from applying for all kinds of awards and scholarship for that academic year.

2. The punished student under academic probation will not be granted a degree.
