Foreign students enrolled in UIBE are not allowed to change their majors and schools in principle. Given that misunderstandings of majors or change of interest do exist, foreign students who meet the requirements of the following conditions can change their majors.

 

I. Basic Conditions

1. The applicant obeys Chinese laws, statutes and university regulations.

2. The public elementary courses of the applicant, including the courses he/she is studying when the application is put forward, meet the requirements of the major he/she intends to change into.

3. The application is approved by the original school.

4. The application is approved by the new school.

5. The application is re-assessed and approved by the International School and the Office of Academic Affairs or the Postgraduate School.

 

II. Application Procedures

1. Undergraduates shall submit written application forms before the course selection of the spring semester (the 2nd semester) of the 1st academic year. Postgraduates and PhD students shall submit applications before the end of the 1st semester.

2. The original school approves the change.

3. The receiving school after examination approves the change.

4. The School of International Education and the Office of Academic Affairs or the Postgraduate School approve the change.

 

III. Notes

1. The application procedures must be done on the principle of justice and openness.

2. The student shall adopt a correct attitude towards school decision. If the student is unsatisfied about it, he/she could apply for a reassessment.

3. The student who has changed the major during the study could not apply for changing majors again.

4. The course credits gained in the original major will be accepted in accordance with the requirements of the new major. Credits not accepted will be considered as extracurricular credits. The tuition fee of these credits shall be paid in accordance with related regulations.
