The examination disciplines are applicable to all kinds of mid-term and final exams organized by UIBE.  

 

I. The following 8 acts moderately violate the examination disciplines. Once identified, proctors shall give warnings and correct students’ behavior. Student who commit these mistakes for the first time and complies with the administration of proctors can continue the exam. Students who don’t follow the instructions of proctors, depending on the seriousness of the case, will be warned or disqualified from attending the exam. 0 point will be given for the exam. The exam here refers to both open-book and close-book exams.

1. After entering the exam room, the student does not sit on the required seats.

2. Before proctors distribute exam papers, the student does not place their bags, study materials, opaque pen holders, electronic or communicative devices to the designated spot.

3. The student brings his/her own clean draft paper.

4. The student answers the exam paper before the exam starts or after the exam finishes.

5. The student attempts to peeks at others’ exam papers.

6. The student passes stationery without the permission of proctors for the first time.

7. The student does not write down personal information as required.

8. The student lingers outside of exam room or talks loudly after submitting the exam papers.

 

II. The following 7 acts seriously violate the examination disciplines. Students who commit these acts will incur a record of demerit and will be disqualified from attending the exam and given no scores. The exam here refers to both open-book and close-book exams.  

1. The student borrows others’ books, notes, study materials, calculators or other objects for the first time.

2. After being warned, the student commits one of the above mentioned 8 acts for the second time.

3. The student passes notes or exam papers but is discovered by proctors before the act turns into cheating.

4. The student peeks at others’ exam papers for the first time.

5. The student moves draft papers with notes to neighbors or hold up draft paper for others to peek at for the first time.

6. The student takes exam papers, answer sheets or draft paper out of the test room.

7. The student leaves exam rooms without the permission of proctors.

 

III. The following 9 acts are considered as cheating. Students who commit these acts will incur academic probation and will be disqualified from attending the exam and given no scores. The exam here refers to both open-book and close-book exams.

1. In close-book exams, after proctors distribute exam papers, the student still holds exam-related books, notes, paper or other materials within the reach of body.

2. After proctors distribute exam papers, the student still holds electronic devices that can store and search information or can calculate within his or her reach.   

3. After being warned and corrected by proctors, the student still try to contact with other people, peeks at others’ exam papers, facilitates others to peek at exam papers or pass notes.

4. The student forcibly seizes or intentionally holds others’ exam papers, answer sheets, draft paper on his/her own desks.

5. After proctors distribute exam papers, the student still holds devices that can send or receive information within the reach of body.

6. The student intentionally destroys exam papers, answer sheets or exam materials.

7. The student takes exam papers or other exam-related papers out of the test room.

8. The student leaves the test room before submitting his/her paper with the permission of proctors during the exam and intends to find exam-related information outside the test room.

9. The student writes same answers sheet in one subject in one test room.

 

IV. The following 7 acts are considered as serious cheating. Students who commit these acts will lose academic status and will be disqualified from attending exams and given no scores. Without additional notes, the exam here refers to both open-book and close-book exams.

1. After proctors distribute exam papers, the student still holds devices that can send or receive information within the reach of body and uses devices to send, receive or check out information.

2. After cheating being discovered, the student does not follow the instructions of proctors, confront with proctors and disrupts exam order.

3. The student destroys evidences after being caught cheating,

4. The student instigates other people to present false testimony.

5. The student does not admit mistakes and refuse to self-reflect through letters.

6. The student organizes or participates into group cheating.

7. After receiving academic probation, the student who commits any of the acts mentioned in item III.

 

V. The following 4 acts are considered as plagiarism. The student who commits these acts will lose academic status and will be disqualified from attending the exam and given no scores.

1. The student holds other people’s ID cards.

2. The student who does not register for the course attends the exam.

3. The student writes other people’s name on his/her exam papers.

4. Whatever the reason is, the student has his/her exam papers in other people’s hands without declaring this issue to proctors.
